Solemnity of the Ascension of our Lord

The picture that goes with this post is a detail from the 'Easter Window' in Our Lady & St Joseph's church. It depicts Jesus at his Ascension. There is an interesting little detail, we can see his footprints of where he was standing. Why this detail? It tells us that Jesus was not some sort of disembodied spirit, but rather a true human being. The Ascension, besides being the end of Our Lord's earthly journey, is also the entry of our humanity into the glory of heaven. Christ is paving the way for all humanity into heaven. 'Where Christ, the Head has gone, we, the body, are called to follow.'
