St Bede the Venerable

 One of sister churches in Carlisle, St Bede, today celebrated its patronal feast. May 25th is the feast of the great English saint, St Bede the Venerable He lived during the 7 / 8th centuries and lived in Wearmouth in the North East. He was a Benedictine monk and a man of great learning, And although he never ventured more than a few miles from the monastery, he had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the world and certainly of the Church. His writings are so valuable that he was made a 'Doctor of the Church'.St Bede - pray for us.
